Convoluted but Clever

So I’m not so sure of the story line for this item and it uses water which most of the time is just a pain. However, it works amazingly well and is very clever. In fact, Magic Wagon give directions where you just use one die but I have done it perfectly fine with two and even three. Two is probably the safest but with some practice I think three is also very possible. Of course predicting two or three dice is much more impressive than just one.

The key thing is that the dice can be shaken up many times in the glass and on the tabletop and they will always show different numbers, but when you pour the magic water (Poseidon’s) in, you can always predict the numbers. It is very cool to watch.

Not for everyone, but a clever principle indeed!

Another Beautifully made Prediction

So Magic Wagon make their props perfectly and this item is no exception. It is easy to operate and set-up and works every time. In many ways this is like Al Koran’s Gold Medallion – both use a similar method and require a little bit of boldness to pull off.

I’m not sure if this one is for me really, but the props are amazing as usual.

Great Value/ Good Trick!

This is a very good "Laser Beam" type apparatus.

Be aware that as the prop is received form the source (I purchased 4 as gifts) the inner r–d sw—h is improperly positioned.

You will need to open the housing and tape the sw—h in the correct position so the lighted eyes and maniacal laugh are activated when the skull is suspended vertically from the key chain.

Other than that, this is a FUN effect that is super easy to present.

Great Idea, Not quite as sturdy as I would like

So this table from Creative Magic is a great idea and it works well. However the table is not quite as sturdy as I would like. It will hold props for sure but anything heavy – say this beautiful Sesme Drawer Box from Milson-Worth – will cause the top to bow a little. It will still hold it, but there certainly is a small sag in the middle.

It would have been nice if they had found a way to make it more rigid when it was open – kind of like the Spider guys do.

Even so it is still a worthy attempt and I can see it being a great time and space god send for those wise performers who don’t need too many box like props in their shows. And if you think along the lines of Tony Griffith you’ll love it!

Another Winner from Ton

Who else makes such colorful, high-quality, packs flat items like these? Ton Onosaka is certainly in a realm of his own with these items. This is a great little routine for kids with the usual turn it around action and a surprise ending of the big cat. Not as mysterious as his Rainbow Dice, but still a great item particularly for the children’s performer.

Wonderful for certain situations

I’m a big fan of the Marcelo Contento Jumbo Rising Card and having a regular sized deck that is remote controlled sounds like a great plan. This deck is close but doesn’t quite replace my Devano deck for most circumstances.

It is reliable and has a good range. However, the block required to house the mechanics to my mind takes up too much of the deck. If it was 26 cards or less this would be huge.

The Devano deck I use (from one half of the Douglas-Wayne Illusioneering team: the master craftsman George Richbark) leaves 37 cards free after the block – this is more than plenty to show the deck is normal. With ORC you have about 8 cards free from a normal deck – way too few. They get around this by actually supplying more cards and expanding the box size. Most people won’t notice this and so it is an ok compromise.

However, unlike the Devano you can make cards rise under your control and there are circumstances when this is desirable. I think we need to wait for one more revolution of this such that you get half the size of the bank.

It is a worthy attempt for sure, and for those people who really need the remote control feature, this is the best you will find today for the money. It is certainly fun to play with!

An Amazing Looking Prop!

Wow this is a beautiful looking Hour Glass that looks amazing and is very solidly built. The method is practical, if a little saucy, and easy to do. It creates the perfect illusion of the classic bill to impossible location.

The props are very appealing too and everything looks above board. This is magic you can quickly fall in love with.

I’ll be adding this to my next Parlor show if I can find the room for it.

The trick comes with a well produced booklet and DVD too. Plus a solid carrying case and all the props you need.

Another Unique Beauty from Magic Wagon

Good to see the Magic Wagon guys are continuing to produce small runs of amazing items. This beautiful piece is no exception. It really is hard to fault Magic Wagon items for their beauty and quality finish.

This is a simple effect where the audience puts the Obelisk into the box with any side facing up, whilst the magician is turned away. The magician then places it into the bag after showing his hands empty. Despite the apparent fairness the magician can reveal which season is face-up.

The method of detection takes a little bit of practice and is nothing amazing in itself, but it gets the job done and if you actually perform this sort of collectible magic then you will be fine. The issue I have with it is that you have to take the box back to place it in the bag, if you were really being fair they would place the box inside the bag and then hand you the bag. If I was to perform this I’d spend a little longer with the props and quickly realize that you could easily get them to place the box inside the bag and only then give you the bag, and still be able to determine the season. In many ways once the box is inside the bag the heat is off of you because it now seems impossible to get a glimpse or anything else. I think anyone who has purchased this prop and hasn’t just placed it neatly in their collection could quickly see how it is possible and easier to do this way.

Clearly these props are not normal everyday items and for many that is a deal breaker. But if you collect fine quality magic you need look no further than the Magic Wagon and their latest effects.

Wonderful Wolf Magic

This is a wonderful and well made prop. It looks incredible and is high quality.. I’ve enjoyed performing this effect at home for friends. The way it works is very nice, mechanical. There are a few downfalls however. (without giving anything away) A- if no ring is removed it is the same as if the center ring has been removed, so you have to ensure the spectator removes a coin. B – Difficult to perform in a darkened environment or if you have bad eyesight. C- the small box needs to be on a flat surface of some kind when the ring is removed. The ring can not be removed from the box while it is in the spectators hand.

Other than that, this is a wonderful piece of magic and I still recommend it. I’ve brought it with me when table hopping at a restaurant and it’s worked very well. The rings that come with the effect were beautiful. I did replace them with cheaper ones when taking this table hopping however. It also works with bits of paper notes or currency bills.

Good trick, can be used for many presentations

A very good trick with three wooden disks and a small burlap like bag. I really liked the design on the coins and the bag. It opened the effect up to many different kinds of presentations. A pirate theme, a Victorian theme, etc. The bag is not integral to the effect, so you can use a nicer bag, or box or something else that matches your presentation.
