One of my favorite items from Mark Leveridge made beautifully by Per Clausen. A borrowed ring mysteriously transports itself from the silver box to the green box all very cleanly and right in front of the Spectator. Great props, routine and easy to do.
Effect: This routine concerns a demonstration of how you, if you were dishonest (!!), could use magic to ‘steal’ a lady’s valuable ring!
Two beautifully made brass boxes are removed from two felt bags. One box has an inlaid silver colour top and bottom, the other red. These are to be used as miniature safes.
A lady spectator is handed the silver box and is asked to unscrew the lid and make sure there is nothing inside. The performer does the same with the red box. The lady drops a lp coin belonging to the performer into the red box and the lid is screwed on. Then she drops her ring into her silver box, and that lid is screwed on. Both boxes are left in view on the table. There is nothing in the performer’s hands.
To commit the perfect crime, the performer would need to switch his worthless penny for the lady’s valuable ring WITHOUT TOUCHING EITHER OF THE BOXES. And that is what he proceeds to do!
The lady assistant has the silver box on her outstretched palm. Another spectator is given the performer’s red box. The performer then mimes the removal and switch of the penny and the ring.
The lady spectator opens her silver box to find – THE PERFORMER’S PENNY!!
Then she opens the red box to find – HER VALUABLE RING! ! Now what a good job the performer is not dishonest!
PERFECT CRIME has been devised and routined by the combined efforts of Per Clausen, Mark Leveridge and Chris Payne, and is a strong and funny effect which is easy to do. The principle involved is cunning! The two brass boxes are beautifully crafted by Per Clausen whose high standards of manufacture in brass have already been seen by those who have the Clausen Chips.
You receive the two special boxes, felt bags plus all fakes and full instructions.

Andy Martin –
Fine Quality Props and Great Idea!
I really like this effect from Mark Leveridge and beautifully manufactured by that master Chip guy Per Clausen.
In effect, you show two small brass screw top boxes: one with a silver colored top and base and the other with a red colored top and base. The spectator freely places her ring into the silver box, and you place a coin in the red box. Then without any tricky moves the ring and coin switch places.
This effect is easy to do with no complex sleights. However, it does require some practice to get the handling smooth and clean. But since it all looks above board you are not really under any heat at the moments of the moves. Long before the audience thinks the effect has happened you are left clean and smooth.
Due to the nature of the transposition, you could devise other uses for these boxes such as using the one ahead principle for predictions.
I think this is a winner from Mark Leveridge – check out his site, he has some very interesting effects just waiting to be discovered.
Highly Recommended!
