Orrin’s Stream Lined Uplift by Jack Hughes, J.F. Orrin

(c. 1947) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This is a great version of J.F. Orrin’s Uplift effect. Uplift was invented by J.F. Orrin c. 1945 and improved by Jack Hughes c. 1947 and it is found in Jack’s book World of Magic Vol. 2.  This effect is easy to learn and perform.  The routine is not as extensive as the Ultimate version released by Len Belcher, but it is easier to set-up and perform so that is worth considering.

This version is made well and I like how the stack of blocks is the same height as the tube, which of course is not possible for the Belcher version and other similar props such as Strat-O-Sphere.

Effect: One RED and Two YELLOW round blocks are passed for examination. A spectator places his ring in the well which has been let into the RED block and closes this compartment with a plug lid.

The three blocks are now stacked one upon the other with the RED one at the bottom. While covered with a tube the RED block first rises to the center and then to the top of the stack.

From this position it is handed to the spectator to recover his ring

I have seen both the previous version of this trick that Andy performed, and I also seen the most recent version by Andy performed that was also created by Paul Lembo and Joe Long of Limited Edition Magic.

Andy’s performance of this most recent version really caught my attention and drew me to the trick. The colors really stand out to me as they would an audience. The simplicity or what seems like a simple trick as Andy performed it, was also an inspiration to me in wanting to purchase this trick.

I must say that I really think that it is an excellent piece of magic. Checks all the boxes. Simple to perform, beautiful colors combine to bring out this great piece recreated. Thank You Paul, Joe and as always Andy for your video and inspiration. Some great magic!
