Rod Thru Glass by Delben

A very nicely made rod through class penetration perfectly executed by Ben Stone of Delben fame.  It looks clean close-up and can be a real fooler.

Effect: Walk among spectators with the frame and rod and allow the spectators to look the glass over at close range. Hold the frame at different angles so they can see that the glass is solid and not split or prepared in any way.

Next place two playing cards, one on each side of glass, in the exact center under the clips. Place the backs of cards against glass. Hold the frame in a horizontal position when placing the cards under clips.

A card with a spot in the center is a good card to use on the side of glass which the rod is to be pushed into. It adds to the effect by pushing the rod into the spot in center of board. A diamond or heart are the best spots to use.

To continue with the effect, push the rod slowly into the card and hole and when the rod is halfway through the hole walk among the spectators again and show the rod through the glass after which hand the rod to a spectator to examine. When removing the cards the frame should be held in a horizontal position as before. Remove first, the card which the rod was pushed into.

Turn the frame over and walk close up to a spectator and remove the other card. Again, show the glass all sides as was done at the start.
