Bottled Spirits by Rocky Clements

Effect: Basic Patter: The performer displays a glass jug and places it on a tray. He explains that he will place a ghost in the bottle, and that he knows it is a ghost because it lives in the little haunted house on the tray. The “ghostly” handkerchief is removed from the house and placed in the bottle.

The bottle is sealed with a cork, and on the magician’s command the handkerchief slowly comes to life, eventually dancing in the bottle, and bobbing up and down in response to questions. The handkerchief stands rigid at the command of “stay” and is then scared to death (drops lifelessly) when the performer shouts “Boo!”

Not to worry, the performer explains, the ghost is just playing dead (ghosts are good at that, you know).

The cork is removed, and at the performer’s command the handkerchief jumps up and completely out the top of the bottle into the magician’s hand.
