The Mysterious Desk (A Magical Re-Creation) by Ed Hill, Tony Karpinski
(c. 1851,2004) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)This faithful reproduction of a 19th century magic trick was crafted by Tony Karpinski of North Attleboro, Massachusetts in the summer of 2004. The design for the trick appears on pages nine and ten of Wyman’s HandBook of Magic No. 1, residing in the magic book collection of Ed Hill. The book was written by E.W. Lathram and initially published in 1851. The production of this trick is limited to twenty-five sets of which only twenty sets will be sold. This is set #9.
After playing with this for a few hours today I was pleasantly surprised with the final result and hope you like the performance 🙂
Effect: A signed dime is placed in a small wooden box. The end of the ribbon is placed in the box and the box is locked by the spectator with the ribbon and dime clearly inside. The other end of the ribbon is attached to a wooden square and placed over an empty glass.
The ribbon is pulled and the signed dime suddenly lands inside the glass. The locked box can be opened and the coin has disappeared from the glass.
