Clairvoyant Card Box by Limited Edition Magic, Magiro

(c. 1995,2021) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This is a beautiful version of Magiro’s very clever effect released c. 1995 called: Neue Hellseh-Kassette (Clairvoyance Chest) from the Limited Edition Magic team.  Paul Lembo continues to amaze with his craftsmanship and Joe Long clearly explains how to perform the effect – particularly the second phase which is barely mentioned in the original German instructions.  It is easy to do but nice to have the precise moves spelled out.

I believe only six of these were made so it is even more rare than the original version put out by Magiro.

I’ve also included a deck of cards, and a small pad and pen.  Everything fits neatly in the box which is surprisingly rare with some of these collectible props.

Effect: Performer displays a simple looking wooden card box with hinged lid. He opens it to remove a deck of cards, a small pad of paper and a few rubber bands. The box is now completely empty.

He shows that the box has a slot near the top through which cards or paper can be passed into the closed box. The box is closed and rubber bands are placed around it to secure the lid.

The performer now writes a prediction on a slip of paper which is folded and placed under one of the rubber bands to prevent any switches. Three cards are freely selected and dropped face down into the box through the slot. The prediction paper is then dropped through the slot as well. When the bands are removed and the box is opened, the cards and slip are removed from the otherwise empty box.

The spectators will be amazed to find you’ve predicted the three freely selected cards on the slip of paper! Okay, that’s a pretty good trick.

But the part that will slay the magic buddies is when you instantly repeat it!

Another prediction slip is dropped inside along with three more freely selected cards. When they open the box – the cards again match the prediction!

Best of all – the box is shown to be empty and handled very fairly. You end clean.

A few important notes to consider:

  • any deck may be used and shuffled by the spectator
  • there are no forces
  • your predictions are written before the cards are chosen
  • once the routine is over, you are already set up for the next performance

Usually if I am interested in a piece of magic over the years, I refer to Andy as I know Andy is professional as a collector and magician. I recently acquired one of these boxes that he has had before in one of his auctions that I have only thought about adding into my magic collection, but, never committed, but always interested in this piece. I must say I am not disappointed in Andy’s review or recommendation on this one. It really is a beautiful and tricky little box originally created by Magiro and this one from Limited Edition Magic.

I was very lucky to find this one honestly. You can do the two stage trick that Andy demos in one of his speed demos or as the instructions say, just do a 3 card prediction that will just fry your spectators. I haven’t actually put this out there in a real world performance yet because I am not a performer. But, I will tell you this, this little box is capable of some pretty amazing things I believe with cards and it will be very easy to use.
