Applause-Stop Silk by Tony Griffith

(c. 1977) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

I used to always used to begin my kids act with this as it was a great way to focus the kids onto the magic.

Effect: This bit of business is put over as a sort of competition between the boys and girls. Who can stop clapping first? It has the effect of bringing the attention of the children directly on to you in readiness for your first trick.

  1. Magician walks on with a large colored silk.
  2. He says he will come on again and asks the children to applaud.
  3. When he raises the silk the children are to stop.
  4. This is repeated a couple of times.
