MC Card Case by Mikame Craft

(c. 1997) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

One of the Best and Inventive Mikame Pieces. I’ve always liked this item from Mikame Craft – it is beautifully made and really a very clever, but simple idea. I remember talking to George Robinson about it a few years ago and he remarked how he wished he had come up with the idea – this is often the case with simple ideas. Once you know how it works you can’t help but think: “Why didn’t I think of that?” But such ideas are often the ones that elude us the most.

Effect: The spectator selects a card and is asked to shuffle the deck and cut it into two halves. He or she is then instructed to take one of the halves and place it into the wooden case, which is 4″ long and 3″ wide. There is a small slot in the front of the case. The spectator then looks through the remaining cards and discovers his/her card is not there. The case is turned over and one card slides through the slot, face down. The spectator then opens the case and inspects the remainder of the cards, which also doesn’t contain the selection. Their selection was the only card which fell through the slot in the wooden case.

The wooden case may then be examined. Made of stained, hardwood with a high gloss finish.

    Nice workmanship; beautiful wood

Mikame make some nice wooden pieces and this is one of the nicest. Card is selected and lost in the deck. Deck divided into two piles. One pile examined and card not there, so must be in the other pile. This pile is put into the case which is then shaken. One card comes out of the slit at the end and it’s the selected card. One of my favorites of Mikame’s recent releases.
