Although this effect has long been considered a CW original and credited to Phillipus (Phil) Postma of the Netherlands, this effect was first invented as Rota Die by Marvillo of West Germany, click here for more details.
Effect: As you begin to enthrall your close-up audience with a colorful story about the life and untimely death of the legendary gambler “Badlands Bob”, they get the opportunity to view for themselves the face of the die that sealed his fate. It is seen through the clear acrylic top of the museum quality teak wood display box within which it is sealed. Asked to change the position of the die by shaking, twisting, or rolling the box, they determine it cannot be done and the box is placed on the table in front of you.
Looking at one person who has been enjoying your story, you inquire, “If you were in Bob’s place, what number between 1 and 6 would you have bet your life on?” When he replies you slide the box toward him so he can again view the die inside. Mysteriously, the die now shows the randomly selected number!
A tiny, hidden gimmick does all the work for this close-up miracle with no awkward moves. Reset is instant and the box can be examined anytime – making it perfect for walk-around.

Cute pocket trick or puzzler?
This is a nice piece…well done but the effect is more of a puzzle or challenge than a magical effect. The effect is that the dice appears trapped in the closed box and can not be turned, yet the magician is able to accomplish with ease. The accompanying patter is good but I would recommend the CW Loaded Dice if you want a nice dice trick.
