Monkey In The Middle by Bill Goldman

(c. 1985) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

Effect: You have a card selected and signed. After it’s shuffled back into the deck, two stranger cards are placed face up onto the deck. You can even have the spectator do it. You snap your fingers and spread the top cards. A face-down card is now seen to be between the face-up stranger cards. Yes, it’s the selection and yes, it looks just as clean as that. If you wish, you may return the three cards to the top of the deck and cause the selection to vanish in an equally mysterious way. It’s easy to do, easy to reset and has a tremendous impact.

Notice: The idea to cut out the holes, which in my opinion really takes this to another level, is from my good friend Paul Richards.
