Passe-Passe Bottles by Rings ‘N’ Things Magic Co.

(c. 1977) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

The Liquor Bottles were more plentiful than the Bubble-Up (7-Up copies) but both sets are rare, meticulously made and are minor miracles. The bottles are pure perfection.

The tubes are typical Rings ‘N Things quality with no seams to be found, rolled rims and accents, Mike Brazill’s exclusive epoxy-baked miracle finish, realistic labels, basically they’re perfectly made. You won’t find any passe passe bottles better than these.

Effect: This is by far the finest set of Passe-Passe Bottles that we have ever seen, and if you appreciate quality in magic, you’ll appreciate the Rings ‘N Things brand of quality. The bottle, formed of spun aluminum and beautifully anodized, is the very-latest in Passe-Passe effects.

You show a glass and a bottle, actually fill the glass with liquid from the bottle, then cover the glass and bottle with separate aluminum cylinders. When you lift the cylinders, the bottle and glass have changed places. Switch them back and forth, too.

Effect 2: The performer introduces a large bottle of wine, a glass, and two cylindrical covers, which may be freely examined. Setting the glass on the table, he fills it with wine from the bottle, and places over it one of the covers.

Over the bottle which is on another table he slips the second cover. A change is now commanded to take place and lifting the first cover there is a glass instead of the bottle;  while under the other cover the bottle is found. Both are then again covered. The magician now steps forward and states that he will again cause the bottle and glass to change places.  While he is talking the assistant, comedian or MC, sneaks up and “steals” the bottle from the cylinder and places it under his coat.

This action of course takes place behind the magicians back and without his knowledge. The magician now commands the bottle and glass to again change places but something seems to have gone wrong; as he apparently is unable to accomplish the trick again.

Finally after the usual amount of maneuvering he accomplishes the trick correctly much to the surprise of the audience and the astonishment of the comedian who immediately looks for the stolen bottle he placed under his coat only to find that it has mysteriously vanished. This effect can be worked up so as to cause a great amount of laughter all during the trick.

    The Best Yet

These have been going for $250 – 400 on EBay lately (as of 3/25/03)…

The RnT Liquor Bottles were more plentiful than the RnT Bubble-Up (7-Up copies) but both sets are very rare, meticulously made and are minor miracles.

The bottles are pure perfection. The tubes are typical RnT: nary a seam to be found, rolled rims and accents, Brazill’s exclusive epoxy-baked miracle finish providing protection that will out-live you (!), realistic labels (when found in mint condition, as mine are) — basically they’re perfectly made.

You won’t find any passe passe bottles better than these.
