The Wizard’s Wand by Milson-Worth

(c. 1980) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

The Pom-Pom Prayer Stick was invented by Louis Histed and published in his book The Magic of Louis S. Histed c. 1947 as the effect Papyrus (pg 55). The effect was made famous and very popular by the great Ali Bongo (William Oliver Wallace: 1929-2009). You can read more details about the origins here. It is really a beautiful effect full of comedy and mystery.

My goto set for years has been the ones released by Kovari Magic and this is the first time I’ve actually held the Milson-Worth version.  They look amazing and are very well engineered.  In fact, this is the first set of pom-pom’s that I have seen that use actually pulleys inside if you know what I mean.

Effect: Pull the tassel on the short cord and as the short cord lengthens, the long cord shortens. Pull what has become the short cord and the opposite cord shortens. Yet when the longer cord is pulled up and down it is obviously independent of the cord at the opposite end of the Wand. The Wand may, at any time, be separated in the middle to show that there are no internal connections. Rejoin the Wand halves and the long-short interchanges can be immediately repeated. Made of heavy-wall metal tubing, chrome plated and polished to a dazzling brilliance

Ali Bongo made famous the Pom-Pom Prayer Stick and I have been performing it for over 40 years. These may quickly become my goto set of sticks.  Highly Recommended!
