(c. 1945,1995) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

Dan Dearing is a British Magician who moved to Italy in 1997. He has been very active in magic since the 1960’s and invents and builds some very beautiful and colorful props. He is a big fan of the great British Inventor J.F Orrin and has lectured on him on a number of occasions talking about Orrin’s amazing creations and performing many of them too. This effect was invented by J.F. Orrin c. 1945 and improved by Jack Hughes c. 1947 and is found in his World of Magic Vol. 2.

At first glance this looks like many similar effects following the Wonder Blocks theme – where the yellow block moves from the bottom to the middle and then the top. The big difference with this version is a borrowed bill or ring can be placed in the yellow block and it is in the yellow block at each stage. Now that is a wonderful twist on this effect!

Effect: One RED and Two YELLOW round blocks are passed for examination. A spectator places his ring in the well which has been let into the RED block and closes this compartment with a plug lid. The three blocks are now stacked one upon the other with the RED one at the bottom. While covered with a tube the RED block first rises to the centre and then to the top of the stack. From this position it is handed to the spectator to recover his ring.
