Sun Block by John Dahms
(c. 1985) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)This beauty was made by John Dahms for Jack Sutherland who owned Sun Magic in Phoenix, AZ. It uses the Sewell Block on rod vanish (c. 1940 by Len J. Sewell) to great effect.
Effect:
Magician removes a solid wooden block from an ornate cabinet. It is inspected and found to be solid. It may even be initialed. Replacing the block in the cabinet, the magician shows the wand to be equally solid. The block is removed from the cabinet and the wand is inserted through the holes in the ends of the cabinet.
The block is placed upon a thin tray and covered with a handkerchief. It is raised into the air and thrown towards the ceiling. The handkerchief floats to tire floor – the cube has vanished, The cabinet is turned around and the block is seen to be back in the cabinet, threaded on the wand!
