Sliding Knot Cabinet by Supreme Magic Company, Reg Gayton, Jimmy Flowers

The original idea for this effect was created by Jimmy Flowers. Reg Gayton then streamlined it and Harry Stanley marketed it. Then the rights were acquired by Supreme which is the version shown here.

Effect: The magician shows a piece of rope and a pair of SCISSORS. He folds and CUTS the rope into half, then knotting them together.  Now he trims the ends of the knot away so that JUST the knot remains. The rope is threaded into a small handsome wooden cabinet, – decorated in Red and Blade, (sure, it can be examined if you wish), so that the knot is in one compartment and on view.

Magician places a slide in the front.  Now he is seen to pull the rope slightly. When he opens the cabinet part way, the knot is seen to have disappeared … OF COURSE, the audience are WELL AWARE the knot is really now IN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CABINET! The rope is pulled back again, this time the door is opened the OTHER way.

Yes, the magician opens the box, first of all sliding the panel one way and then sliding the other, always giving a little movement of the rope as he does so.

 FINALLY, IN RESPONSE TO VOCIFEROUS DEMAND HE PULLS THE FRONT OF THE CABINET OFF COMPLETELY, showing the knot has entirely disappeared!!

To further cinch things and bring things to a great conclusion, he pulls the rope completely out of the cabinet and tugs this between his hands to show that not only has the knot disappeared, but miraculously, the rope has become restored.

The box is 8″ × 2.5″ × 4.5″.
