Silver Odyssey III (with custom case) by Collectors’ Workshop

(c. 1994,2019) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)
Collectors' Workshop is a Favorite, see more of their magic here.

Collector’s Workshop was created by Rich Bloch and Nick Ruggiero in Middleburg, Virginia in 1972. They produced some of the most advanced and coolest magical effects that have been seen in the last forty years. Today the company is owned by the very capable George Robinson who continues their tradition of excellence and innovation.

In 1994, Rich Block and Nick Ruggiero released one of the most prized creations in the Collectors’ Workshop stable: Silver Odyssey II.  It was a real beauty to behold.  Now Twenty-Five years later George Robinson has created Silver Odyssey III and it looks and works perfectly.

Internally it does not look quite as stunning – gone are all the gleaming brass and copper components – but noone but the performer ever saw this anyway and it now it works perfectly and more reliably than ever before.  Like the previous versions it does not come with any way to vanish the coins (?).  My suggestions would be to use one of these devices:

If you have ever dreamed of performing this effect then I suggest you contact George – he has already sold out twice this year and I don’t know how many more runs he will be making.  It is most certainly the perfect Coins To Glass effect.

Effect: The performer begins by displaying four coins at his fingertips. He then tosses them, one by one through the air where they seem to vanish only to be heard arriving across the room. Each coin visibly penetrates an inverted tumbler, landing in a mouth-up shot glass.

The effect is visible, audible and sensational. It’s not a new effect, of course. Conradi, Martinka, and, more recently, Bob Kline and Jack Hughes issued wonderful versions. But before now, the glasses had to be carefully mounted on a wooden base and held by the performer or his assistant. That’s just not the way we wish to do it.

We think the glasses should rest on a beautiful English tea service tray. We think you ought not to go anywhere near the tray and glasses. That’s why we built Silver Odyssey. This masterpiece of precision engineering was designed and developed at Collectors’ Workshop to meet the most demanding standards of close-up, club and even stage performing. Your pride in performing the effect will be matched only by your joy in owning this remarkable piece of craftsmanship. The entire effect is self-working – no sleights, no assistants.

Because everything is controlled from a transmitter the size of a matchbook, you are free to ‘choose the moment’.

You receive the marvelous tray, glasses and complete routine, plus Protective case.

Let me start by saying a long time ago I realized that I am not a coin guy. Many years back I personally owned a Copentro effect that I thought was amazing. I still honestly do think that it is a great trick with coins.

Fast forward to 2024 and Silver Odyssey. After all of these years, I wanted to see George Robinson of Collectors Workshop make more of these that I could get my hands on one. My wishes came through with a previous owner and I can tell you that it is just beautiful and very fun to perform. The electronics (as many collectors, I don’t usually like electronics), but the electronics are very dependable, and I am very happy with Silver Odyssey I must say.

My only gripe or complaint that I had on mine was underneath the tray needed to be shined. With some help and advice from George I purchased a silver shining product that made the bottom look as good as the side and what you see displayed on Andy’s site. Just wonderful! A very highly recommended trick from George and Collectors Workshop!
