Pom-Pom Prayer Stick by Unknown

(c. 1980) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

The Pom-Pom Prayer Stick was invented by Louis Histed and published in his book The Magic of Louis S. Histed c. 1947 as the effect Papyrus (pg 55). The effect was made famous and very popular by the great Ali Bongo (William Oliver Wallace: 1829-2009). You can read more details about the origins here. It is really a beautiful effect full of comedy and mystery.

I am not sure who manufactured this version and it does not use the standard method for the Pom-Pom Prayer Stick.  Instead, it works the same way as the Wonder Wand by Klingl however unlike the Klingl one it cannot be handed out at the end.  Due to the method the range of pull is limited but it still works well, and unlike the standard method there is “no hook up” required when you reassemble the two tubes.

Effect: A sparkly wand is shown with a cord running through each end with four colored pom-poms on top and bottom of the wand. As you pull various combinations of the pom poms the cord always moves up and down, no matter which side is pulled up or down!

It appears that there are many connections inside the wand. But when the wand is opened there are no cords and nothing to see.
