Plexi-Card (with N.M.C. Card Box) by El Duco’s Magic

El Duco's Magic is a Favorite, see more of their magic here.

El Duco’s Magic was founded in 1978, by Swedish magic inventor Christer Gustavsson (El Duco) and the brand has a solid reputation and is respected throughout the world of magic. You can find his magic here.

In 1936 legendary British Inventor, Craftsman, and Dealer, Jack Hughes, invented what became known as the Television or TV Card Frame (or sometimes Television Glass Frame) where a chosen card appears trapped between two plates of glass set in a houlette.

This version from El Duco is very compact and reliable via sound activation.  Traditionally  this was activated by a silk or card pistol.  However, these days you would be better off simply clapping your hands and making it vanish from a card box such as the beautiful Perfection Card Box as seen in the video from National Magic Company.

Effect:  On the table is a neat stand with two crystal clear Plexi glass plates. Take the unprepared plates, held together by rubber bands and after showing them to the audience replace them on the stand.

Now, let a spectator choose a card, then tear off a piece and give it to the spectator to hold for verification. Place the card in the card box close the lid and place it in front of the stand or hand it to the spectator.

Build up the suspense and then clap your hands.  The card with the torn corner suddenly appears between the sheets. Ask the spectator to open up the card box – the card has disappeared and hand them the sheets.  They can remove the card and check that the corner matches.

And the crowd goes wild 🙂

A masterpiece of magic apparatus, built in metal and Plexi glass. Built to top mechanical and electronic standards by a master-craftsman.

    Thanks El Duco

It was sad to hear of El Duco’s passing recently. He had some great ideas and was a real gentleman of magic. This particular item is one of my favorites that he produced.

It is a sound activated version of the TV Card Frame. It works with a bang wand, gun or even a good clap. The mechanics are perfect and it delivers the card every time. It is easy to set and one of the better design features is that the base is deceptive enough to not really look big enough to store a card.

Collector’s Workshop still hold the crown with their Original Bulletproof, but this is a close second and is more practical in close-up and parlor situations, and is certainly cheaper and easier to set-up.

    Highly Recommended.
