Di-Mini-Fish by Warren Stephens

This wonderful item was created by Warren Stephens c. 1969 and sold by Abbott’s until c. 1997 and what an unusual item it is! I don’t believe they have been available for over twenty years. This version has been refurbished and works perfectly. It has a new clear and thick plastic sheet which is more solid than the original and it looks amazing (The final image shows a photo of the original Di-Mini-Fish for comparison).

It comes with a very funny patter story that is still funny today 🙂

Effect: This is great comedy for adults as well as for children. The performer displays a framed picture (21″ x 10″) of a fish and claims it is of the “big one” he caught. His wife claims it really wasn’t that big, whereupon the fish in the picture visibly becomes smaller!

When he told the fellows at his club one said, “Remember, I was with you when you caught it!” Again, the fish visibly gets smaller. There are many other good gags along the way until finally a Game Warden shows up and asks whose fish it is. He states that the fish is “under size” and he must fine the fisherman!

At this, the fish in the painting quickly disappears from the picture entirely! This is a very funny and very professional prop. Made with care and precision, this is not a toy. It packs flat. If you are looking for a well-made comedy item, this is it.

Last week I had the fisherman’s dream come true. I found the perfect spot. Were they biting? I’ll say they were biting, YOU HAD TO HIDE BEHIND A TREE TO BAIT YOUR HOOK! And I caught a record fish to boot. You don’t have to take MY word for it, I have a life-size painting of it right here. (SHOW PICTURE)

This picture was painted by a very GIFTED, CLEVER, TALENTED AND VERY MODEST ARTIST. As a matter of fact I JUST FINISHED IT A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO.  I showed it to my wife first. My wife has a terrible memory – SHE REMEMBERS EVERYTHING! First thing she says is, “it wasn’t THAT big!” Maybe she’s right. It could have been a BIT Smaller.  (MAKE FISH A COUPLE OF INCHES SMALLER)

I took it down to the Sportsman Club to show the boys. They are always bragging about catches. If fish were as big as the stories they tell about them: SARDINES WOULD COME IN GARBAGE CANS! The first guy I showed it to said, “It wasn’t that big”. I asked,”What do you know about it?” He reminded me that he was the other person in the boat when I caught it. You know, maybe he was right. It might have been a BIT smaller. (REDUCE FISH)

Personally, I think fishing is a wonderful sport- ESPECIALLY IF YOUR WIFE WON’T LET YOU DRINK AT HOME!

I showed it to another of the fellows, though he didn’t seem too impressed, he told me he was on the dock when I landed with the fish, and he didn’t recall it being that big. Well maybe it was a bit smaller by the time he saw it. It had been in the sun – (REDUCE TO ABOUT FOUR INCHES IN SIZE)

There was a stranger sitting at the bar who seemed interested in my fish. He asked me where I caught it and if that was its ACTUAL size. I said, “Of course, it is!” What does he then do, but pulls out a BADGE and informs me that he’s the local Fish Warden and that my fish was two inches under the legal limit, and he would have to take the picture as evidence.

I said, “What picture? (VANISH FISH RAPIDLY)  Don’t you know that ALL fishermen Lie or is it only LIARS fish?”
