The Mint by Alan Wakeling, Johnson Products

Effect: The most difficult part of any new effect is coming up with an interesting plot. In the case of The Mint, the plot was developed by Alan Wakeling. After seeing the trick, Gem Busters, Alan applied the idea to a logical effect, the minting of coins. Johnson Products then created the method and the necessary apparatus.

Having performed a series of coin effects, the magician offers to demonstrate how coins are made. From an elegant cloth bag you remove a small metal cube. The cube is covered with your empty hand and rubbed in a circular motion. Upon lifting your hand, the cube has changed into a perfect ball. The ball is now slapped with your hand, flattening it into a smooth metal disc. The disc is lightly polished with the bag and again pressed under your hand. This time the disc turns into a gleaming half dollar.

Each change looks absolutely impossible. It is as if your hands had actually become a magical mint. Includes cube, ball, disc, and a bag. Instructions include handling for performing standing or seated.
