Chinese Economy by Henry Evans

(c. 2003) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

These jumbo coins from Henry Evens are a little disappointing. They look pretty good even close-up, but when you actually handle them they are only adequate. The coins themselves could be a bit thicker and the stamps more central. The shells feel flimsy and although I’m quite sure they look superb in Mr. Evans’ hands I found them just a bit too light. The instructions that come with the package are poorly printed and short. When you’re paying this much the least they could have done was throw in better instructions with some step by step photos. These are not even close to Auke Van Dokkum’s coins and not even as good as Johnson’s.

Effect: The magician displays four jumbo (2 1/4″) Chinese coins to the audience and offers to give an example of how well the Chinese economy system works. He clearly places one of the coins into his pocket and closes his hand around the remaining cards. When he opens his hand, he still has four coins! This is repeated several times and then things get out of control: one of the coins vanishes and reappears in the magician’s wallet, two coins placed on the table multiply into four coins, two coins travel through the performance mat and to finish both sides of four coins are clearly shown, yet they multiply into eight coins!

Includes seven jumbo Chinese coins, six special gimmicks and instructions.

Loads of Shells, but quality is not Johnson!
