Voodoo Doll by Dick Barry

Effect: A mysterious black box (labeled VOODOO DOLL) is shown. Upon opening it a cloth VOODOO DOLL is removed, along with a business card holder containing your business cards. You claim it is a VOODOO DOLL given to you by a witch doctor who told you that the doll has magical powers.

The BACK SIDE of your business cards are casually shown to be BLANK. One card is removed from the holder and placed printed side up on the table. A spectator is asked to pierce the doll with a pin into ANY PART of the VOODOO DOLL. You then pick up your business card and wave it over the doll as you say “VOODOO MAGIC!” Have the spectator hold out one of his/her hands, palm up. Your business card is placed into the spectator’s palm, printed side up. Spectator is asked to hold his/her hand with the business card over the VOODOO DOLL and say, “VOODOO MAGIC!” You then remark, “I wonder if you noticed there is’a pin hole in the card you are holding?” Point to a hole in the business card. Ask the spectator to turn over the card he/she is holding.

To the spectator’s amazement, the previously shown BLANK (back) SIDE of the business card now has a DRAWING on it. The drawing is the outline of a VOODOO DOLL, with a SINGLE PIN HOLE PIERCED THROUGH THE DRAWING, AT THE EXACT SAME SPOT THE SPECTATOR PIERCED THE PIN INTO THE CLOTH VOODOO DOLL.
