Tele-Vision Box by Zaubertechnik Haug
(c. 1930,1962) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)This effect was first known as The Mystery of Mysteries and was created c. 1880 by Martinka in the USA and Zauber-Klingl in Europe. This version was built by West German manufacturer Zaubertechnik Haug (often know as ZT Haug).
This is a beautiful piece of magic. It has a method that is clever so magicians like it, and it is clean and convincing so audiences like it. What more could you ask for – the woodwork is also first class!
The version from Zaubertechnik Haug was replaced by an almost identical version from Mephisto-Huis in the 1980’s after Haug had gone out of business c. 1979. This version and Mephisto-Huis since has been the go to version and this is a particularly nice version. The mechanism works perfectly too!
(Notice: this does not come with any keys. Many of the versions released by ZT Haug and Mephisto-Huis did not even come with locks. Personally, I think locking and unlocking both boxes takes too long, so for me the missing keys have never been an issue.)
Effect: You show two nested boxes with 4 blocks. You leave the room and ask the spectator to arrange the blocks in any order in the inner box. Then place the smaller box inside the larger and close them up. On your return without opening either box or any funny moves you can discern the exact order of the blocks. The inner box itself is opaque and there is no way you can see inside, but when placed inside the larger box this puts it into the miracle class!
