Mental Safari by Magic Wagon

(c. 2006) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

So here is another version of the T.A. Waters’ amazing Box Office which has been recreated so many times it is hard to keep up.

The box is small – 3.5″ x 3.5″ x 2″ – and the mechanism works perfectly every time. Unlike some other versions, this box was clearly built from scratch for this routine. In effect any one of the animals is chosen by the spectator and a single prediction is found in the bottom of the box, that matches. The effect has a different outcome every time. The spectator can open the box and open the prediction themselves.

What is unusual about this version is that you openly place a prediction in the box in front of the spectators when you begin.  This is a great touch that is rarely seen in most versions of Box Office.

Magic Wagon have actually created at least four versions of Box Office including:

so it is a common theme for them.

Effect: A handsome box is opened revealing a set of four blocks of different recognized wild animals displayed within the tray. The performer now takes out the tray, shows the box entirely empty, and clearly places a prediction inside the box in front of the spectator, then replaces the tray. After the above is done, the spectator is invited to select his/her favorite jungle animal (This is totally free choice), remove it and write down the “Animal-Tracking Number” beneath the block. The performer then lifts the tray and clearly shows the prediction that previously put inside the box. The prediction is then removed by the spectator and read it aloud. Surprisingly, it exactly matches the chosen animal, right down to its tracking number!!!

There are many versions on the market, but none feature the ability to clearly show that the prediction was indeed placed inside the box at the beginning of the show. Despite that, your prediction is 100% accurate!

  • The spectator has an absolutely free choice of any of the animals.
  • The prediction was indeed placed inside the box at the beginning of the show.
  • The method is devilishly clever!

The Best version of T.A. Waters’ Box Office

There have been many versions of Box Office by T.A. Waters – all unauthorized as far as I know. However, this one is probably the most practical and most reliable I have seen.

The box is small – 3.5 x 3.5 x 2 – and the mechanism works perfectly every time. Unlike some other versions, this box was clearly built from scratch for this routine.

In effect any one of the animals is chosen by the spectator and a single prediction is found in the bottom of the box, that matches. The effect has a different outcome every time. The spectator can open the box and open the prediction themselves. It is a very clean method.

This piece is not part of the Collector’s line of Magic Wagon effects, but it still is a beautiful piece and I really hope it is performed – since it is a really great piece of mentalisim.

    Highly Recommended!
