Borodin’s Dream Movie by Ted Lesley

This is actually  a wonderful effect with a relatively simple and elegant method, but most prop guys are not going to be happy with the method.  It involves a billet switch, some basic chemicals and a fake envelope.  It could work with as little as three people, but you would need some audience control in that case and works better for a slightly larger audience and if you are expecting clever gimmicks you will be disappointed.

However, if you really looking for a great routine that would wow them and you were prepared to put some time in to make it smooth this is a very solid routine that you would keep coming back to.

Effect: A lady is instructed to remember the most beautiful day in her life as if it was a movie. She is directed to stop the movie in her mind, give the last picture a title, and write it down. The piece of paper is folded and the performer puts it into a glass or ashtray (glass provided).

As he talks, the paper mysteriously catches fire by itself without him being close! The performer draws the attention of the audience to a sealed envelope, which has been in full view right from the beginning.

This is torn open and another spectator removes a piece of paper from it. This is unfolded and read out by the spectator himself. Believe it or not, on the paper is written the same movie title the lady wrote down.
