I remember owning the original version of this wonderful mini illusion growing up in England – I purchased it in 1979 at the IBM Convention in Brighton (it was originally created by Alan Alan c. 1959). I loved it! The Zanadu version I purchased years later used the same principle (Black Art) and although the illusion looked ok, it was never really an amazing illusion because you couldn’t see clearly into the box.
The stage size sword box such as Murder Inc. and probably hundreds of others over the years, used a different method and always looked more convincing. So Thomas has created this deluxe close-up version that uses the same method as the big stage version and it looks amazing!
Effect: The Tom Thumb Sword Box is a miniature version of the famous Sword Cabinet. In place of a girl assistant, the victim is your thumb or finger, through which you push 9 Swords!
The action takes place inside a beautiful sword box, made to fit on the thumb. When the thumb has been penetrated from all directions the cabinet is turned showing the audience the inside, and to their amazement they see a mass of swords. But the thumb has disappeared. Two impacts in one effect! The nearer the better! A glistening cabinet complete with 9 swords.
Absolutely safe and easy to perform; ideal for close-up performance.

Madison Hagler –
This is a gorgeous apparatus. Its beauty is eye catching. The method is strong and very deceptive. Unlike many more traditional thumb cabinets, this one uses a different principle which allows the inside to clearly be seen empty. Essentially, this is a miniature version of a classic stage illusion usually done with someone’s head. I love having micro illusions like this in my collection. It looks great, it works well, and audiences love it. If you get a chance to add this to your collection, I highly recommend it.
