1 review for Siamese Ribbon by Alan Warner

This was my first Alan Warner piece and really what began my love affair with beautiful and clever magic props. It is still one of my favorite close-up illusions and this one looks as good as it did almost fifty years ago!
It doesn’t normally come with scissors, but having a small, sharp pair of scissors is vital to perform this illusion cleanly so I recommend (and include) a set of Gingher 4 Inch Large Handle Embroidery Scissors. I also include a generous supply of 3/8″ satin ribbon. In his original instructions Alan recommends 1/2″ but in his later instructions he recommended 8-10mm which is about 3/8″ and I have found 3/8″ works better too.
Effect: A small Oriental-looking cabinet is displayed, then the front and back doors are opened revealing a narrow ribbon which runs through the centre of the cabinet from side to side (the ribbon-ends run through slots with a short length left hanging outside of the cabinet at each side). The performer pulls the ribbon back and forth several times and then takes up a pair of scissors and CUTS THE RIBBON IN TWO.
The doors are now closed, but the ends of the ribbon which protrude from the slots in the sides of the cabinet are still in full view. The performer pulls on one end of the ribbon and THE OTHER END MOVES IMMEDIATELY: he continues pulling and the ribbon is removed – COMPLETELY RESTORED! The doors are re-opened showing the interior of the cabinet to be empty.
BEAUTIFUL HANDCRAFTED APPARATUS:
The apparatus comes complete with The Alan Warner Routine.

Andy Martin –
Welcome back to an old Favorite!
This was the first item I ever purchased directly from Alan Warner about 35 years ago. I used to perform it all the time, but sold it along with the rest of my Warner collection shortly after the dot.com crash.
I was pleased to pick up a mint version just before Christmas and am happy to have it back in the collection (which seems to be growing again after my recent sell off!). It is a a very clean restoration that always amazes them.
Alan has created some truly clever and beautiful magic over the last 40+ years and this early painted miracle still is hard to beat. It is a real beauty – maybe it is time for Alan to create one in teak?
Highly Recommended for collectors and close-up performers everywhere!
