Mini Cube-A-Libre by Magic Wagon

(c. 2008) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This item is another incredible mini magic illusion that will appeal to all Magic Wagon fans and all of those still sitting on the fence too. I have owned Cube-A-Libre in a number of versions (two of which don’t even appear on my site) and the best one I had was one that I purchased from Ron MacMillan thirty years ago. Even that one I found to be a bit too much to work with because of the six blocks. I much prefer four blocks which is one of the reasons I like this little unit from Magic Wagon so much. You can get about the same amazement factor with less work or risk of exposure!

This mini version works flawlessly and it is very easy to do all the standard moves. There are no levers to press and due to the small size a very deft touch is all that is needed to work the apparatus.

As pretty as this Magic Wagon version it is, it does not get close to the beauty of the version released by the wonderful German craftsman Thomas Pohle

Effect: Another great classic is now in miniature version!

Four blocks numbered 1 through 4 and an empty tube are displayed. Each block is then stacked on top of the other, in numerical order starting with number 1 on the bottom and covered with the tube. The performer points to the vertical easel and openly places the numbered plates on the easel with the 1 on top and 4 on bottom. When the cover is removed, the blocks have now magically rearranged themselves to exactly match the order on the easel! This is repeated several times. Each time they end up in the exact same order. To conclude, a spectator is invited to arrange the numbers on the easel in any order he chooses. Despite this, the cover is lifted and the stack of blocks still matches perfectly!

Each set is delicately hand-crafted from hardwood and adorned with brass engraved numbered plates. Each block is approximately 1 1/8” cubed and the tube is 4.5” in height.
