Matchmaker by Trevor Lewis, Per Clausen

(c. 2002) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

Per Clausen has created dozens of chip effects and the chips used in Matchmaker are basically the same as the chips used for Psycho-Chips II but delivered in two square boxes instead of one long one. Even the routine is essentially the same.  I’ve found no other details about this effect anywhere in my extensive database 🙁

But it is a great effect and with Per Clausen’s beautiful brass chips you can’t go wrong.  It pretty much works itself and you’ll be the perfect matchmaker every time.

Effect: Two boxes are shown containing four chips colored red, blue, yellow and green. One box is presented to a spectator and the other retained by you. A chip is removed from your box, placed on the table and the color concealed by your hand. The spectator is invited to try and match the color with a chip from his box. Revealing your color, you either compliment or commiserate with him.

This process is repeated with all four chips. The spectator will either have matched all, some or none of the colors.

Explain that you will now control his mind and make him the perfect MATCHMAKER. The spectator’s four chips are turned over (white side up) and mixed. He is asked to nominate which he thinks is the red chip. This selected chip ( white side up) is, placed on your red chip. He is likewise invited to try and match the blue, green and yellow chips. These are placed on your respective colored chips. The spectator’s chips are turned over and the four colors are seen to match your colors perfectly.

Compliment him on being the perfect MATCHMAKER.
