Magic Swiss Card Clock by Urs Auckenthaler

(c. 2015) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This is beautifully crafted item is basically the same as the old Collectors’ Workshop item The Clock of San Marcos but using micro Swiss electronics instead of a wind-up motor. It works perfectly and is very quiet with a neat and compact mechanism and a long lasting battery. The benefit of the electronic motor of course is that there is zero reset required between performances which makes it perfect for strolling and restaurant magic. Very reliable and I’ve never seen another like this before.

Effect: The pen eerily moves on its own until it comes to stop pointing to the freely chosen card.

  • Magician has a deck of cards and takes 8 cards away from the top.
  • The rest of the deck is placed on the table to one side (picture facing upwards). Magician takes the 8 cards and displays them to the spectator and shuffles them and then offers the spectator to take a card.
  • Spectator takes a card and looks at it and gives it back to the magician and the magician shuffles the cards once again.
  • The magician places the 8 cards like a clock face, in a circle around the deck of cards.
  • Then the magician takes the marker pen and places it on the deck. Marker tip facing towards himself position 6 to 12 o’clock.
  • After about 5 seconds the marker starts to move around the clock like a clock hand and stops exactly at the spectators chosen card.
  • The magician immediately takes the marker pen (otherwise it continues 5 seconds later) and places it on the spectator’s freely chosen card.
