Jade Rings and Coin (Limited Edition) by Alan Wong

(c. 2009) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

A classy outfit from Alan Wong and quite a lot nicer than the more generally available baby version here.  It is a version of the classic effect the Rings of Hindustan (also known as: the Chinese Ring Illusion, The Two Ring Trick, Magical Mystery Rings, the Chinese Rings of Mystery).

Effect: A lovely drawstring bag made of black velvet is set upon the table. Removed from this is a second smaller bag that contains two jade rings (yes, they are real jade) and a small red envelope that has been embossed in gold with a Chinese character. These items are placed on the larger bag, which will act as a close-up mat for the entire effect. The envelope is opened and is found to contain a small brass Feng Shui coin. The coin is removed from the envelope and placed on the bag.

The two jade rings are then stacked atop one another with the red envelope sandwiched between them. This arrangement is then placed over the coin. A magic pass is made; when the stack of rings and the envelope are dismantled, it is found that the Feng Shui coin has vanished.

The coin can stay vanished, or it can reappear. Or it can even be found in a different location. It’s entirely up to you. Mr. Wong’s presentation has the coin reappearing in the traditional manner underneath the reassembled stack of rings and envelope.
