This is a beautiful illusion inspired by Harry Bohleno’s Visible Block Penetration c. 1946 though performed in a horizontal position. You know it is going to be good when you can find at least three YouTube videos of the effect. Yes three is the tell tale sign for Magic Wagon items 🙂 And although the videos shown are all good, Simon Corneille’s (Simcoscor) is exceptional. You will be very happy with this bad boy.
Effect: The performer displays a beautiful cabinet which has two circular windows at the front, along with a red wooden block and four brass rods. After showing that the block will pass freely through the cabinet from one end to the other and there are no obstructions within, the rods are then inserted through the center of the cabinet, two from top to bottom and the others from back to front. The block is again slid through the cabinet where it is seen to move freely and then heard to stop as it hits the brass rods blocking its passage. The performer now tells the audience to keep their eyes on the red wooden block. With absolutely no hesitation, he pushes on the solid wooden block and the block is seen to slowly and visibly melt through the solid brass rods! The block is then removed showing it to be unharmed and still completely solid and the audience can immediately see right into the cabinet and that the rods are still, in fact, crisscrossed blocking the interior! It is an incredible miniature illusion.
The cabinet measures approximately 14.5cms wide, 5cms high and 4.5cms deep and has been completely handcrafted from natural aged teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish. The block measures approximately 3.5cms wide, 3cms high and 3cms deep. The brass rods are each approximately 5.5cms long and 3mm in diameter and come complete with a custom designed display stand.
This is without question one of the best and most visual block penetrations in magic.
An impossible demonstration of solid through solid!

This prop has serious angle issues, and I’m quite disappointed. I can’t believe Magic Wagon released it without careful consideration – not even exploring solutions used in similar tricks. It’s destined to be nothing more than a camera trick on YouTube!
