Gourmet Mouse by Larry West, Emerson and West

(c. 1977) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

If offbeat card chicanery is to your liking, Larry West’s GOURMET MOUSE should appeal. It is an amusing routine in which cards showing a mouse, cheese and cheesecake are used to illustrate the gluttony of Gaspar the mouse. In the end, cheese and cheesecake are left but Gaspar vanishes, leaving Carlos the gourmet cat smacking his lips and rubbing his tummy. The moves are simple and the effect amusing to all ages. It comes complete with cards, full instructions, patter and condensed cue card.

Effect: GOURMET MOUSE is another of the wonderful weird creations of Washingtonian Larry West. This is a short little tale of a mouse with culinary predilections for cheese cake rather than simple cheese. However, as is so often the case, the eater becomes the eaten as the mouse vanishes with the appearance of his arch enemy the cat.
