Die Tunnel (Mini) by Mel Babcock
(c. 1995,2016) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)This effect dates back at least as early as 1968 in the USA from Tannen’s.
This little effect is a pocket size version of his bigger Die Tunnel and looks beautiful and works cleanly. I love the use of Casino die too as so often smaller cheaper dies are used, but this one enhances the Cocobolo wood perfectly. Mel first released this c. 1995.
The method is similar to Alan Warner’s effect Dice-A-Matic. Mel also created Giant (4″ die) and Small (2 1/4″ die) versions.
Effect: It is a very deceptive pocket trick and great for walk-around as it is always ready. A small tube is displayed, squared up, and shown to be empty. You also show an ordinary die which can be examined. The die is now slowly pushed into the tube and when it emerges from the other side, the number that was on top has changed. It works cleanly with nothing added or taken away every time.

Mel Babcock continues to amaze me! At 84 he is working in his workshop almost every day producing miracles to the keep the few remaining Magic collectors around the world delighted and full of magic. This little guy is a pocket size version of his bigger Die Tunnel and looks beautiful and works cleanly.
