Definitive Atomic Ball by Magic Wagon
(c. 2008) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)Effect: In a formal and elegant table setting a small box is opened to reveal a pair of dice, two metal cylinders and the Atomic Ball, a shining silver sphere. The dice and cylinders are removed from the box and placed on the table for inspection. You remove a center block from the box that holds the Atomic Ball, carefully remove the ball and place it gingerly in the hand of an audience member. The empty block is placed back in the box and the box closed. One of the dice with the 1 spot showing is placed on the box top. The die is covered with one of the metal cylinders. The Atomic Ball is gently placed atop the die. The second metal cylinder is stacked on top forming a small tube. The second die is now placed atop the Atomic Ball. This die has 5 spots showing. It protrudes from the top of the tube due to the Atomic Ball. Of course the combination of numbers, 1 and 5 do not make for a winning outcome. As you explain this, you turn the top die so the 6 is showing, creating a lucky 7 combination, and place it back atop the Atomic Ball.
Suddenly the top die sinks into the tube. You dismantle the tube and clearly show the dice and cylinders. The Atomic Ball is gone. With empty hands you unlock the box and open its lid. Lo and behold, the Atomic Ball has returned safely to its secure block within the box. Our new Atomic Ball is truly the definitive version of this prop. The box is fabricated from exotic Zebra woods. Nothing has been spared in the construction of this effect. Highly polished aluminum cylinders designed to nest perfectly together form the tube. You are provided with a third die for switching in and out if desired.

The Trickery Has Done it Again!
Thank God the magic community has a company like The Trickery to keep quality magic alive. Howard Baltus, The Trickery’s founder, has always had an appreciation for well-crafted apparatus, and has gone out of his way to make it available to his customers by either hunting it down or having it created himself. His work with Bob Solari under the Definitive Magic banner yielded some of the most unique, and quality-driven effects the industry has seen in a long time.
The Trickery’s latest effort in this vein is the Definitive Atomic Ball. They have produced several versions of this effect in the past, but all pale in comparison to this version created in partnership with Magic Wagon of Thailand. For the life of me I can’t understand why there isn’t more of a buzz about the work this company is doing. The quality and attention that they are putting into their effects are really second-to-none. I would compare them to other craftsmen, but that really isn’t fair since Magic Wagon’s products utilize materials and production methods I’ve never really seen before in magic manufacturing. Even contemporary producers like Dave Powell, RNT II, and Colin Rose aren’t experimenting with the techniques and materials that Magic Wagon is employing. But I digress.
The Definitive Atomic Ball is outstanding in every way. The effect is quick but baffling and the construction of this version is impeccable. You will love handling this, displaying this, but most of all performing this.

Another Amazing Beauty!
When Howie at The Trickery teams up with the Magic Wagon, what you get is amazing, beautiful, and unique magic. The Atomic Ball has always been one of my favorites and now we have the truly Definitive version.
This is just breathtaking to behold and a truly amazing effect. You show the box and remove the two dice and rings and the single "atomic" ball. The box is clearly and openly empty. Now you close the box and place the ball between the dice stacked inside the rings. With a simple incantation the ball melts away from the dice. You cleanly and openly lift up the rings and the dice – the ball has really gone, and your hands are clearly empty without any moves. Everything is just natural.
Now for the final kicker you open up the box, and there right where it should be is the Atomic ball back in its slot.
A truly elegant and amazing effect!
