ColorWise by 3D Magic Works

(c. 2016) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

Kent Bergmann is back with his amazing new line of magic: 3D Magic Works and the very positive reviews are flowing in.

What a lovely prediction effect this is with all the pieces coming together to really hide the method and make for a great display. I love how every piece packs away into two small little boxes – even the die neatly fits in the lid of one of the boxes, and acts as a stop for the chips moving around. I think one of the really clever things about 3D Magic is you can refine the sizes of things until they work perfectly together very easily – it is much harder to get the tolerances with traditional methods, and of course the cost is way higher too.

Effect: The performer presents two small boxes, one rectangular in shape the other octagonal. The lid of the rectangular box is removed and the contents are removed. Inside is found different colored square cards with an octagonal hole in the middle. Also removed from the box is a smaller box with a slit in it large enough to fit one of the colored square cards, this is the prediction box. The performer then makes a selection (prediction) of one of the colored square cards (without the spectators knowing which one) and places it inside of the prediction box. The remaining colored square cards are then put back into the storage box and the lid is replaced.

The performer now removes the lid of the octagonal box to reveal a die (included in set) secured in the cap and six octagonal shaped chips with a different color octagonal inlay which match the colors of the prediction cards. The colored chips are lined up and the performer tells the spectator that he can either pick a number one through six or he can roll the included (normal, non-gimmicked) die as many rolls as he/she likes to determine which chip will be selected. The spectator chooses to roll the die, does so, and is happy with the number. The performer then takes the corresponding colored chip, slides it forward and then replaces the non-chosen colored chips back into the octagonal container. The prediction box (which has been on the table in the spectators view the whole time) is brought forward and then tipped so the colored prediction card slides out onto the table next to the selected chip . . . it’s a perfect match!

The light brown parts of this set are 3D printed using a beautiful filament that has been infused with genuine wood.
