Kent Bergmann is back with his amazing new line of magic: 3D Magic Works and the very positive reviews are flowing in.
Another common theme in close-up magic is the penetration of a coin through a match. My favorite is probably the one from Tricks. Co many years ago. But I really like this version and the actual penetration looks amazing – I had to do it a few times to convince myself there would be no exposure and it really does look amazing every time.
It does require a basic sleight, but I think the work is covered nicely and the props are interesting enough to look at that there is minimal heat on you. If you try it I think you will quickly fall in love with this beauty. You start clean and end clean, and everything is examinable.
Effect: A small apparatus is presented along with a match and a fifty cent piece. The performer explains that the apparatus is a coin slide with a hole going through the middle. The match is placed through the hole in the front and out the hole on back side so the match now obstructs the passage through the coin slide. A fifty cent piece is presented and shown that it is far to large to go through the coin slide and around the match . . . in fact there is no way for the coin to go through the coin slide without removing or breaking the match. The performer places the fifty cent piece in the top of the coin slide which it is in plain sight for all to see. Next, the performer taps the top of the coin to show that the match is preventing the coin from passing through the coin slide. The performer does his/her magic and wiggles the match a little bit from the front (spectator may look to make sure the match is still protruding from the front and back of the coin slide) and then the coin visibly drops through the coin slide passing right through the match. Th performer takes the fifty cent piece from the bottom of the coin slide and places it back in the top of the coin slide where the match is once again holding it in place from passing through. The performer pushes the apparatus (with the match and fifty cent piece) towards the spectator to try.
The light brown parts of this set (including the display stand) are 3D printed using a beautiful filament that has been infused with genuine wood.

A cute little thing – a very visual trick. It takes some practice, and there are no angle or noise issues.
