Fu-Di-Ni The Red Chinese Rabbit by Joe Fenichel, Illusion Makers

(c. 1967,1978) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This effect was originally created by New York dealer and manufacturer Joe Fenichel c. 1967 and then re-issued by Illusion Makers through Tannen’s c. 1978.

Effect: A metal rack decorated in Chinese motif, black and gold, 9 inches wide and 3 % inches high, is shown. It has two hinged doors. Its two compartments are shown empty. A canister decorated in red, white and blue is also introduced.

You patter about a red Commie rabbit (!) and you show a square metal plaque with a red rabbit on it, which you place in one compartment. Then you do the sliding die box sucker business. Red rabbit disappears only to reappear in the container. You remove him and place it in the other compartment and he again vanishes.

All this is done without covers; just open and close the doors. The third time he appears, having escaped from his Red Chinese jail, he is shown to have changed to a white honest to goodness U.S.A. rabbit.

Container is shown empty, nothing to get rid of – all self- contained and the price is right – $10.50 for this amazing trick.
