Elusive Rabbits (Hip Hop) by Jimmy Bix

(c. 1996) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

The Elusive Rabbits or Hippity-Hop Rabbits was invented by The Great Norman (Norman Hazeldene) c. 1947.

This version is a really solidly made with great colors from Illusionist and Magic Dealer Jimmy Bix in Vienna, Austria. The design for these rabbits are exactly the same as the ones created c. 1986 by Sam  Dalal for his version of this effect (see the final four photos for a comparison). The more I find out about Sam Dalal’s influence on magic the more I am impressed with him – you can read more about Sam here.

Effect: The performer shows a black rabbit and a white rabbit. Both rabbits are covered with tubes. The black rabbit is covered with a tube with painted black top hats and the white rabbit is covered with a tube with painted white top hats. The performer explains that the rabbits change places magically. When he lifts the tube with the black top hat there is the white rabbit and vice versa. This is performed several times. But the spectators will soon state that the performer only turns around the rabbits and that the black rabbit is white on the other side and that the white rabbit is black on the other side. After some by-play you turn the rabbits around .. The white rabbit is red on the back and the black rabbit is green on the back.
