This is one of those items I remember seeing often in Magic Info (the Ron MacMillan publication) and so when I saw it come up on eBay recently I snapped it up. This is the original sold by Harry Stanley.
In effect you show Ali Baba and his vases and place Ali on the spindle of the stand. The audience select a color and Ali ends up pointing to that color. This can be repeated and in the end Ali ends up pointing to the only vase with a load (money, silks, candy, etc). There are 4 pages of ideas that come with this and it can be used with cards or billets instead of vases and it really is quite an extensive utility item. Within reason whatever will fit on the stand can be used instead of the jars. There is also interesting patter to go along with the Jars theme.
It works every time and there is nothing added or take away. A very nice find from long ago!
Effect: Five differently colored jars are shown and placed on a break down stand. Ali Baba. Jr., is introduced. A hole in Junior’s body permits him to be put on a metal projecting pieoe on stand. He is given a spin and stops at any color called for. At any time, the order of vases may be changed, yet Junior always picks out the right color. And for a climax, he picks out the one jar that contains treasure, etc. All the other jars are shown to be empty, but from the selected jar silks are produced and then a shower of coins comes pouring from the jar.
It’s great Magic, with audience participation if you wish, with the background story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. The instructions .carry a special patter story by Wilfred Tyler. The jars are 7.5″ high and 4″ in diameter, and colored Red, Green. Silver. Blue and Yellow. The All Baba. Jr.. figure is lacquered in brilliant colors.
