Dippy Magnet by Robert Harbin
(c. 1948) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)When Robert Harbin introduced this effect it was an instant success and it is still a fooler today.
Effect: Card is freely chosen – shuffled into pack – an Eclipse magnet with a long string attached to it is removed from a match-box. Six cards are dealt from the top of the pack on to the floor. You stand up and dangle magnet over cards – the chooser holds your wrist and concentrates. When the magnet touches the chosen card, IT LIFTS IT UP.
Any deck can be used, and easy to do. The Card and magnet can be handed for immediate examination when card is picked up by magnet and the spectator has no clue how the magic happened.
