Cut Off by Emerson and West
(c. 1973) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)I could find nothing about this effect anywhere. I’m guessing the year based on the deck of cards. The effect is easy enough to blunder through, but I don’t think it would be that easy to do well and be convincing.
Effect: A brisk demonstration of seemingly masterful ability at sleight-of-hand with a deck of cards. The performer quickly cuts to three of the aces in the order named by the spectator. Then in a truly startling climax, the spectator cuts to the fourth ace only to have the performer change the rest of the deck into all matching aces.
The Methods:
True to Emerson & West tradition, two methods of performance are offered. Arthur’s method is for those who prefer to accent the effect with a minimum use of sleights. Larry’s method is for those who prefer the use of sleight-of-hand to achieve an additional surprise. Please take your choice or perhaps blend your own handling by mixing from the two.
