Jackson’s Topper II by Robert Jackson

(c. 1985) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

What a lovely and rare vanishing deck variation by the talented craftsman Robert Jackson who created the popular Impossible Deck Vanish and the Zig-Zag Bill.

What makes this vanish different is when the deck disappears instead of having the top attached to the sides you have the top, the bottom, and the sides which can be seen clearly through with absolutely no sign of the deck that was just seen, and it it’s place is a jumble of cut cards.

It is a subtle difference but for those who are looking closely quite amazing 🙂

This is basically self-working and finely made using: aircraft ply, bass wood, spruce and a little walnut.

Notice: the deck at the beginning is a normal deck and is used to force the card that is found at the end with the razor, it is not the deck that is vanished.

Effect: A card is selected by the spectator and committed to memory. The magician announces that they will now reveal the chosen card.

A specially crafted wooden card case, made from premium materials, is shown. The magician opens the case to reveal a deck inside. After displaying the top few cards, which are not the chosen one, the deck is placed back into the case.

Next, the magician introduces a dramatic element – a razor blade. With great flair, the blade is dropped onto the deck, building tension and adding a sense of real danger to the moment.

After shaking the box, it is opened once more, and the audience is stunned to see that the entire deck has been shredded into small pieces—except for one card which remains relatively intact with the razor blade still embedded within it.

The magician then reveals that this is the spectator’s selected card 🙂
