Cabinet of Foo (Vintage) by Abbott’s, Jack Hughes

(c. 1947,1965) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

The Cabinet of Foo is Abbott’s version of Jack Hughes’ amazing Spacious Production Box that Jack invented c. 1938 as detailed in World of Magic Vol. 1. Jack first released the box when he was in business with Harry Stanley c. 1946 and this version was released under license by Abbott’s c. 1947 as the Cabinet of Foo.

This is clearly a vintage Abbott’s prop, but it is hard to know the exact date of this version. Based on various Potter & Potter listings and the quality and detail of this item I would place it c. 1965 and probably made by Arturo (Glenn Babbs).  It is very solid and a real treat to use and it looks amazing.

The Cabinet of Foo has one of the best production loads available for its size and you can really load this bad boy up 🙂 As I often like to do I have included a number of cool production items and there is still a room for a little more, but the items included represent a very nice haul.

Includes:

  • The Cabinet of Foo complete and ready to roll 🙂
  • Large Folkmanis 15″ Standing White Rabbit Hand Puppet (Bonus, $35 Retail).
  • Magic Latex 500 Ml Coca Cola Bottle (Bonus, $55 Retail).
  • Magic Latex Orange XL (Bonus, $20 Retail).
  • Magic Latex Apple XL (Bonus, $20 Retail).
  • Beautiful 36″ Silk King Studios Imperial Dragon (Bonus. $55 Retail).

Effect: This piece of equipment will fill a long-felt want among Magicians. No matter what the showing conditions are, close-up or surrounded, the CABINET OF FOO will work smoothly and effectively for both Vanish and Production.

Apparatus consists of a pedestal and Oriental type cabinet approximately eight inches square. All four sides open, permitting audience to see through. In this condition the Cabinet of Foo is turned completely around, thus showing all sides. Doors are closed and production begins – and remember the pedestal elevates cabinet from table top. You may produce doves or a live rabbit, and cabinet may be used to vanish just as easily.

Cabinet is decorated in Oriental design in bright lacquers – A precision made piece of apparatus. No hanging bags, or tip overs. The working action is automatic.
