Visible Candle to Salt by Magicraft Products

(c. 1974) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

What a clever idea from Magicraft. This is about as clean and effective approach you can come up with to turn a candle into salt and no wonder it was a complete sell-out at Magi-Fest when it was first released in 1974. Maybe not mechanically clever, but you have to admire the solution for this effect 🙂

Magicraft Products was a small dealer and manufacturer founded by Tim Dereme in North Canton, Ohio c. 1966. As far as I can tell they were in business until c. 2004.

(Notice: the original came with a cheaper wooden candle base and this has been updated to use the heavier and better quality metal candle base as shown.)

Effect: This is it. The finest method ever invented to produce salt. A tall white candle is blown out and covered with a clear plastic tube. The candle can be seen easily through the clear tube. In fact, the candle never leaves anyone’s sight during the entire trick. The performer makes a magical pass and picks up the candle by the base and it visibly turns to salt which is immediately poured out into a goblet.

ALL TRACES OF THE CANDLE ARE GONE.

It’s clean, fast, and automatic. The trick works itself. You’ll marvel over its simplicity. There is nothing to go wrong. Remember the candle visibly turns to salt. Take our word for it. You’ll love it.
