Professional Grade Nudist Deck (Mental Photography Deck) by Steven Perry, Stevens Magic

Another popular Rough and Smooth deck this time invented by Ralph W. Hull c. 1934.  As a teenager I started with the Nudist Deck but a few years later I discovered The Phanto Deck.  The Phanto Deck is similar to the Nudist, but there are two other transformations and I have been using ever since.

These are made by Steven Perry who is a professional card mechanic and does an amazing job for just a few dollars more.  These are not bulk manufactured, each deck is made by hand with meticulous attention to quality control and precision.  The roughing is solid and will not let you down under pressure.

Effect:  (Ken Brooke’s Routine) A pack of cards is shown to be entirely BLANK, back and front. The FACES of three Thought Cards mysteriously appear, one after the other … BUT, they have no backs. As the story develops, their faces disappear and they revert to blanks … again, the pack is shown to consist entirely of blanks.

BACKS NOW START TO APPEAR but they have no FACES … the pack is now shown to consist en­tirely of cards with backs BUT NO FACES.

FACES NOW START TO APPEAR until EVERY CARD IN THE PACK is seen to be normal. The amusing story climax brings the cards back to their original Blank state.

Patter: “Had a wonderful idea a few weeks ago for making a pack of playing cards. I was walking down Oxford St, called in to Mr Marks, asked him how his spencers were and would he be interested in buying the idea. ” “What’s it all about?”

“All you require are a few pieces of cardboard plain at one side and likewise at the other. Afraid I can’t supply you with these!” “No need to worry about that, 1 ‘ll call for the help of St. Michael; but how do we go on for printing machines?”

“Ah! That’s where my stroke of genius comes in. All you have to do is think (PHASE 2). Say you think of The Four of Clubs (name the card sighted) and here you would have a perfect reproduction ofyour thought!” “Wonderful! That’s all right for black cards, how about the reds? ” “Just as simple. (PHASE 2) Say you think of the Seven of Diamonds. ” (Name red card sighted.) “You transmit the thought and here you would find yet another reproduction of that thought! ” “Afraid that none of the cards have backs ! How do we go about them ?”

“Backs are a little more difficult due to more colour but if you think hard enough (PHASE 4) you’ll get a back like this!”…. “But it doesn’t have a face! (PHASE 3) Can anyone do this?”…. “Sure! You think .(PHASE 5) and here’ s your thought!”

“That’s certainly a great idea, but it must be slow! “…. “Frankly, the entire output depends on how many thinkers you can find. If there strong drinkers…thinkers, they can think of fifty-two at once and by doing so you get a pack right away (PHASE 6), perfect both at the face and at the back (PHASE 7).

“How much will you take for the idea? Thirty thousand Pounds? Afraid that’s too much for me. ” “So….. I’ve still got my idea. He’s still got the fifty-two pieces of cardboard. St Michaels still doing very well and I ‘m still struggling like the devil for a living!”
