Cut no Cut Scissors by Stan Watson

Stan Watson (a Gold Star Member of the Inner Magic Circle) was a talented and generous professional performer and I was lucky enough to be at the Sussex Magic Circle when he became a member. You could always see the difference between his performances and the other guys. His scissors are absolute gold.

Sadly, as so often happens in magic, although Stan originally made thousands of the Scissors for Supreme, Edwin decided to undercut Stan and had some other person make them for him. This led to a law suit by Stan which was eventually dropped when Richard’s Scissors stopped production in the 1970’s.  You can read more about Stan Watson and Diane (his wife who’s real name is Kathleen) here. Stan passed away in 2009 but Kathleen is still alive and living in Dorset at 91.

If you get the original ones signed by Stan Watson himself they will last a lifetime – these photos are of my set which are 42 years old!

Effect: With spectator to assist, you demonstrate what you want him to do, saying . . “just cut a strip from a sheet of paper, just like this. Now, you do it”. Then, without any switching of scissors, you hand him the scissors and paper. But, try as he may . . the scissors just WON’T WORK. He can examine them as he likes . . but the blades get no response from the handles! You take them back and show him how easy it is to cut the paper!! Once more he tries . . but no go! . . the scissors just go haywire in his hands!!!

Great entertainment! Scissors are top quality and will cut paper—cloth—material and even rope. Gimmicked to work all the time.
