Flash Dice (T-72) by Tenyo

(c. 1976) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

One of the Tenyo Classics! As a young teenager I used to perform this effect all the time. It was my go to effect at the time. It takes a knack but no real skill. I mastered it easily as a boy and if it takes a bit of practice to master that doesn’t mean it needs any special skills. If you follow the routine it becomes more and more unbelievable for the spectators.

Flash Dice needs no sleight of hand, but a terrific multi-phase effect is produced. Flash Dice, created by Takuya Yoshizawa, will remain as one of the classics of close-up magic.

Flash Dice is closer in effect to a Sure Shot dice box, however they work quite differently. The most similar recent effect to Flash Dice would be the beautiful Loaded Dice by Alan Wakeling reproduced by George Robinson under the Collectors’ Workshop brand.

Effect: Six dice are placed in a small box at the same time and covered with a shaken lid. When the lid is removed, the dice are lined up in order to 1 to 6. With another shake, the order of the reverses (6 to 1 The magician makes a prediction on a slip of paper. The spectator is asked to share the number of spots showing, adding them together. The dice are replaced by the box and shaken. The number of spots which now appear on the table is added to the previous total. The result matches the prediction. Finally the spectator picks out one of the six dice. The remaining five are in the box and shaken once again. Hey presto – All the dice in the box show the same number as the die spectator selected.

During the first production run, DICE FLASH was not provided with the blue case.
